Product Details

Not every early medieval warrior could afford to buy full-maille body armour and a common solution was to protect the torso with a very thick form of padding (at least twice as thick as a normal gambeson) for the torso. However, some form of flexible protection was still needed for the arms so a pair of maille sleeves was used to for this. These were stitched to a thinner padded garment worn underneath the thicker outer layer of torso padding.

Later in the medieval period when plate armour became available, wearing a full maille garment became redundant so maille sleeves were also used in the same fashion to protect the arms if the warrior could not afford to buy, or want to use plate arm harness.

Our Lord of Battles maille sleeves come in 2 sizes - M/L and XL/XXL. The larger size costs $450 for a pair.
