Product Details
This Klapvisor Helmet is a historically inspired reproduction of the iconic 14th-century knight’s helmet, famous for its distinctive visor with one centrally mounted hinge. This helmet marked a key transition from the full faced great helms to visored helmets that can opened or fully enclosed.
Hand-made from 16-gauge or 14-guage mild steel, this helmet is both visually authentic and is even practical to be worn so it can be used for events and long wear.
The klapvisor bascinet emerged in the mid 14th century, especially during conflicts such as the Hundred Years’ War. Knights need better facial protection without sacrificing breathing or vision. The long, pointed visor helped deflect strikes, while the ventilation holes improved airflow.
This design shows medieval innovation driven by evolving battlefield needs.
The interior of the helmet has a quilted cotton liner and an adjustable leather strap with buckle which can be adjusted as per the need. The liner keeps the weight of the helmet evenly distributed and helps in wearing the helmet for longer hours at events..
Designed for knights, foot soldiers, and historically accurate 14th-century styles, this helmet is ideal for your LARP events, display, stage performance. As a visored Bascinet Helmet, it visually represents the shift toward full facial defense in medieval warfare.
