This is a very well handcrafted and sturdy reproduction of the bascinet helmet used in the early 14th century. It is also one of the first helmets to have a visor. The visor can be adjusted to fit an individual wear better and brass highlights can also be provided.
It has a 68cm forehead circumference and it weighs 4.0 kg in 1.6mm steel..
The visor can be locked shut with a spring pin and can be opened by depressing a spring pin.
A leather liner is provided and this can be adjusted so the helmet can comfortably fit most head shapes.
A padded arming cap should be worn with this helmet and for additional protection around the base of the neck and shoulders a maille standard (collar) or coif (hood) can be worn over the arming cap.
