Horn as a raw material has been used since antiquity right up until today for a wide range of everyday products because it is cheap, readily available and easliy cut and shaped after immersion in hot water. Throughout antiquity horn was used to make many everyday domestic items including eating utensils.
Horn has been used to make eating utensils ever since cattle were first domesticated and our small feating set (15cm diameter bowl) has been carefully designed so that it cannot be atributed to any particular era or culture yet is generic enough to be used for any.
The horn is sourced from domestic cattle.
The bowl and has been boiled and cleaned thoroughly, waterproofed and then polished. so you can eat from it straight away although we recommend a quick clean with warm water before you use it for the first time.
