This is a fine reproduction of a generic powder horn that is suitable as a functional or decorative accessory for any period from the 1600's up until almost the modern day.
It is made from a domestic cow horn and has carved on decorations and comes with a basic leather strap.
There is a wooden stopper to apply a powder measure and a wooden cap at the top which cannot be removed.
While these are functional, the horn needs to be filled some the small opening at the end (about 5mm or 6mm round hole) so care would be required to do this. However, this is how the original powder horns were also filled.
