This 15th century Gothic cuirass is forged from 16 gauge steel. This set includes a front breastplate and backplate. The cuirass plates are designed to articulate and provide better movement. The cuirass has quality leather straps with buckles which are securely riveted for durability. The straps are adjustable allowing for a better fit on the wearer.
It is inspired by a late Gothic armor which is exhibited in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, Austria. It is estimated that the cuirass was made between 1485 and 1490 in Augsburg. It is handmade from a steel sheet of thickness 1.6 mm (also called 16 gauge steel). It is suitable for a chest circumference of about 122 to 141 cm and is about 60 cm high. Its chest girth is about 135 cm. It is also sprayed with black paint on the inside against corrosion.
This is a stunning piece of harness from Lord of Battles and made to a standard almost as high a custom made. It will make a great centrepiece for a full 15th century Gothic harness.
