Product Details
The mace is a blunt, impact weapon that uses a heavy head on the end of a wooden or metal handle to deliver powerful, crushing blows.
They have been used since antiquity and come in many shapes and styles.
This particular mace was developed to defeat maille armour which while resilent against cutting and thrusting blows, provides no real protection against percussive impact unless worn over a gambeson or siimlar padding. The hand forged iron head has a number of knobs which focus the power of the blow to produce greater impact over a smaller target area. This mace was used from the 11th to 13th centuries.
Depending on the rules of your re-enactment club, this weapon may or may not be allowed for re-enactment combat.
