Product Details

Fluted medieval steel buckler for use in sword and buckler sword play. 30 cm diameter, 16 g (1.2mm) steel) and weighs 1.16 kg. The fluting is a Gothic amour feature and adds more strength to the buckler.

The wooden handle is unfinished to allow the user to file the handle to get a perfect fit for their hand.

The term buckler derives its name from the French word "bouclier", meaning "shield". It was used from the 12th century all the way to the 18th century. Its small size allowed it to be both maneuverable and mobile. It often accompanied a swordsman as an aid in defense, and was designed to be light and maneuverable, allowing a warrior to retain a good portion of their mobility and agility, even when deflecting blows with a shield.
