For my video review see here: Review of Generic Medieval Sword

This lightweight medieval sword with scabbard is based on the Oakeshott Classification Type XV (15) blade with a Type 9 Cross Guard and a Type B-j Pommel from "Records of the Medieval Sword".

While the historical swords of this blade type had a blade with a strong taper that lead up to a fine point, this fully functional sword has dull edges and a rounded tip. Like the original Type XV swords, it is a multi-purpose sword  useful for slashing, cutting, and thrusting. Swords of this type first appeared around 1300 and remained in use throughout the 14th century. While the fittings are more suggestive of 15th century swords, older blades were frequently upgraded with more modern fittings so it was common to see an old sword pass through several generations of users so these blade types were use well into the 15th century.

The blade is made from EN45 Carbon Steel tempered to a Rockwell hardness 52 - 55.

Suitable for most forms of medieval battle re-enactment and HEMA.

The grip is wood wrapped in high grade leather for a secure grip. it comes with a matching scabbard, made of wood and wrapped in leather to match the grip. The scabbard is fitted to a belt in the correct historical method. The belt is large so it can be shortened fit the owner.

You can also personalise the scabbard and belt rom our range of brass belt fittings

As this sword is hand forged and not mass produded, its finish and its overall measurements can vary slightly.
