Product Details

A falchion is a one-handed, single-edged sword of European origin. Falchions are found in different forms from around the 13th century up to and including the 16th century. They are heavy swords for their size and were primarily used for cutting an opponent's limbs or head and slicing unprotected areas of the body with a single stroke. While they could not penetrate mail or plate armour, the heavy blows could still break bones and cause severe concusive injuries.

Our style of 13th - 15th century falchion was used throughout Europe and is superbly forged from EN45 high carbon steel. The edge is blunt for reenactment use but the pointed tip may need to be rounded off defending on the combat rules you work with.

The sword is 74 cm long with a blade length of 57 cm long along the back edge from end of the crossguard to the tip. The weight is approximately 1.8 kg.

Both sides of the blade have an acid etched floral design and the falchion comes with a simple leather belt sheath.

Price includes GST and courier delivery within New Zealand.
