Our functional Roman gladius is made from carbon steel. It is a copy of the popular "Pompeii" style gladius which was used throughout the Roman Empire from the 2nd Century BC to the 3rd Century AD,
The blade is made frrom high carbon steel and has been tempered. Although it has dulled edges, it comes with a sharp point so is not immediately suitable for renactment combat unless the purchaser rounds the tip off. This is a relatively simple task which can be done in most metal working shops.
It comes with a leather scabbard with a wooden core and dulled brass fittings. The grip is made from wood covered in leather..
As this sword is hand forged and not mass produded, its finish and its overall measurements can vary slightly.
