Our Saint Wenceslaus helmet is directly inspired by a richly decorated 10th-century original currently exhibited in Prague, probably the oldest nasal helmet ever found. For centuries nasal helmets have been the most popular helmet in most parts of Europe because of its versatility and good balance between protection and mobility.
This beautiful nasal helmet is handmade from 16-gauge mild steel, lined with a comfortable and secure leather liner. A circumference of approximately 68 cm (without liner) makes it fit almost all head sizes (65 cm with liner). The top is about 22 cm in height and the 14 gauge nasal strip is about 9 cm long. It weighs about 2.2 kgs (with liner). A sturdy chin strap with a lovely buckle ensures your helmet stays in place during battles.
Ideally it should be paired with of our maille coifs. It is perfect for a range of warrior types from humble archers and spearmen to mounted knights.
Note: This product is carefully coated with a layer of oil when packaged that acts as a temporary (protective) layer against corrosion (rust), which can easily be wiped off using any oil remover or even a dry cloth.
