Product Details

This fully functional reproduction Viking helmet s loosely inspired by original helmets found in the sites of Vendel, Uppland located on the eastern coast of Sweden. Typically made from iron by the people of that age, these helmets share a close resemblance with the helmets of the Late Roman Age, portraying them as a form of transition helmets between the Late Roman Period and the Viking period. Our reproduction is ideal for early medieval or Viking warrior kit.

Our Viking Vendel helmet is hand made from 1.6mm mild steel with a blackened finish, lined with a padded liner (made of a thick layer of padding sandwiched between thick, high-quality canvas). The (24×21) cm base makes room for a maximum head circumference of 68 cm. The eye guard is 16.5 cm wide with a 12.5 cm long nasal. The eye slits are (6.6×3.1) cm. A leather strap and steel buckle closure. The total height is 29.2 cm with a 17 cm high cap/skull and 12.5 cm x 14.3 cm cheek plates. Weigh is about 2.6 kg.

Note: This product is carefully coated with a layer of oil when packaged that acts as a temporary (protective) layer against corrosion (rust), which can easily be wiped off using any oil remover or even a dry cloth.
