The hands are prone to injury in any style of weapons combat so having some form of hand protection is very important.
These padded mittens with maille provide good hand protection for re-enactment fighters portraying early medieval warriors as well as HEMA practitioners.
These are popular DIY additions to our standard padded mittens but many people don't have the time to make their own maille so we decided to do this for you!
The maille is our standard Lord of Battles alternating solid/wedge riveted flat iron ring maille which has proven itself over decades of reenactment combat.
The rings are 9 mm internal diameter.
They are suitable for LARP, Western Martial Arts training, Theatrical Combat amd and most forms of Metal Weapons combat.
If you are portraying an early medieval knight then they are an an ideal complement to our 11th - 13th century gambeson which had such mittens sewn onto the ends of the sleeves. The maille hauberk of the time also had maille 'pockets' extending from the sleeves to also cover the mittens.
