Late 13th Century Simple Vambraces

NZ$95.00

Product Details

Lower arm protection (vambraces/canons) first appeared in the 13th century. As these were orignally made from hardened leather. their form and date of introduction is unclear. Orignally they were simply made and only covered the outside of the forearm. Simple steel versions probably appeared in the late 13th century and persisted into the 14th century. As they evolved into more complete plate armour coverage of the lower arms and elbows, the simple 1-piece version would still have been used by light infantry and archers whose primary role was not hand-to-hand combat.

Our Lord of Battles 1-piece vambraces are made from 1.6mm steel. They are secured to the lower arm by two straps with medieval buckles.
