Product Details

Despite the rapid development and uptake of plate armour from the beginning of the 14th century, many warriors could not afford to buy much plate armour and had to make do with either padded or maille armour and add what bits of plate they could scavenge or afford. Protecting the vulnerable joints was the priority and smaller pieces of plate armour were incorporated into these older types of armour to provide this additional protection.

The elbows are prone to injury and our couters have a big and well shaped wing or fan for protection to the vulnerable inside of the elbow. A strap and buckle secure the couter to the back of the elbow.  Made from 1.6mm mild steel.
