Horn Tankards, Tumblers, Shot Glasses and Goblets

Tankards and Cups are the most common drinking vessels throughout history.

Similar to our Drinking Horn range, our Tankards, Cups and Tankards are also made from ethically sourced domestic cattle (Bos Taurus) horn.

Unlike the standard drinking horn, they are a bit more practical in that they have a solid flat base which provides greater stablility as well as an integral handle.

Like our Drinking Horn range, these products are not only popular with our historical re-enactment customers but they are also popular with hospitality businesses, beer drinkers, film and theatre companies and the general public.

The base of each tankard or tumbler is either wood or horn which has been securely glued to the horn based and sealed with a food grade water proof varnish.

As a general rule:

  1. Shot Glasses have an approximate capacity of about 100 ml - 150 ml
  2. Tumblers have an approximate capacity of about 200 ml -250 ml.
  3. Standard Tankards have an approximate capacity of about 500 ml - 750 ml
  4. Large Tankards have an approximate capacity of about 750 ml - 1250 ml
  5. Extra Large Large Tankards havean approximate capacity of about 1250 ml up to 2000 ml

We recommend washing your tankard or tumbler with hot soapy water when you receive it. The vessel may smell slightly pungent and the interior may have loose small flakes. The smell is natural and does not sour the drink. It will vanish over time but if you want to remove it faster you can wash the horn more. The flaking is excess varnish which is harmless if injested.
