Product Details

From the early 14th century separate items of metal plates to protect the shoulders began to appear and our 14th Century Spaulders are one of the first types to also include overlapping steel plates to protect the upper arms as well. This type of spaulder was common in the second half of the 14th century and persisted into the early 15th century where it was replaced with more advanced versions.

They each are made from a shaped shoulder plate with three articulating lames to cover the upper arms. There is a leather tab at the top to secure to a arming doublet or gambeson and an adjustable strap on the lower lame to secure to the upper arm.

They are made from 1.6mm steel and the lames are attached by several internal strips of sturdy leather that are riveted to the inside of the metal plates.

Price includes GST and tracked shipping within New Zealand.
