Product Details

The haubergeon was worn by warriors from the early Dark Ages until the end of the Rennaissance.

It was a similar garment to the hauberk but it only extended to the mid thigh and the sleeves could extend to the elbow or wrist to it provided protection to the most vulnerable parts of the body. It was also lighte and therefore provided more mobility than the hauberk so it was a very popular garment that was used over a period of at least 1000 years.

Note that the garment needs to be worn over a gambeson or thick undertunic to prevent chaffing and to absorb blunt force impact and still be fairly loose fitting over the padding so that it can be taken on and off easily and provide maximum free movement while being worn. So the sizing must take this into account. We offer haubergeons in sizes S, M, L, XL and XXL:

The garment can be blackened or left in a natural oiled finish.

Prices include GST and delivery within New Zealand.
