Product Details
This medieval sword is based on the Oakeshott Classification Sword Type XII (13) with Type 1 cross guard and a Type H pommel. This particular configuration was very widely used from about 1275 to 1340. Although it declined in popularity from about then, its use persisted well into the 15th century so it was one of the most successful sword types of all time.
Swords of this type had a blade with a lighter taper that lead up to a rounded fine point. So it was designed to cut rather then to thrust. While it can deliver stong thrusts, its weight and centre of balance is more suited for cutting and slashing attacks.
The blade is made from EN45 Carbon Steel tempered to a Rockwell hardness 52 - 55.
Suitable for most forms of medieval battle re-enactment and HEMA.
The grip is wood wrapped in high grade leather for a secure grip. it comes with a matching scabbard, made of wood and wrapped in artifical leather (Rexine) to match the grip. While the scabbard does not come with a belt, you can easliy buy a ready made belt or make a personalised sword belt yourself from our range belts and belt parts.
